Jowls rarely have a single cause, so they rarely have a single fix. Dr Kris brings more than 12 years of clinical experience and a detailed knowledge of facial anatomy to every jowl treatment at Kriniko Medical Aesthetics, assessing how volume, skin and muscle are each contributing before recommending a plan.

  • Advanced aesthetic training completed in London, with ongoing professional development in injectable techniques, facial anatomy and complication management.
  • A medical understanding of the ligaments, fat pads, muscles and blood vessels of the mid and lower face, allowing each treatment to be placed safely and precisely.
  • Every patient has a face-to-face medical consultation with Dr Kris before treatment, and a doctor is present throughout your appointment.

Why Cambridge Trusts Dr Kris

Anatomical Expertise Behind Every Treatment

12+ years of clinical practice, with both medical and surgical qualifications
  • Jowls are often a mid-face problem showing up in the lower face. Dr Kris looks at the whole face, so support is restored higher up rather than simply adding product along the jaw.
  • Medical safety: Dr Kris is trained to recognise and manage complications, and the clinic keeps hyaluronidase and emergency protocols ready at every appointment.
  • Honest advice: if your degree of skin laxity would be better served by a surgical opinion, Dr Kris will tell you so at consultation.

The Kriniko Difference

Lifted, Never Overfilled

Filling a jowl directly can make the lower face look heavier. Dr Kris instead focuses on restoring the structure that holds the face up, then refining the jawline and skin, so results look lifted, balanced and natural.

Support from above

Replacing lost cheek and temple volume can reduce the downward drag on the lower face, softening jowls and marionette lines before the jaw is even treated.

A layered, combined plan

Most jowls respond best to a combination of volume, muscle relaxation and collagen stimulation, staged over weeks rather than done all at once.

Measured progress

Your skin is assessed with the OBSERV 520 skin analysis system, so improvements in skin quality and firmness can be tracked across your treatment plan.

Jawline & Jowl Filler Cambridge

Jowls often appear as the cheeks lose volume and the tissue they once supported slips downwards. Carefully placed hyaluronic acid filler in the cheeks, pre-jowl sulcus and along the jawline restores that support, camouflaging the jowl and redrawing a smoother line from chin to ear.

Dr Kris uses firmer, lifting fillers designed to hold their shape, placed precisely so the lower face looks defined rather than heavier. Treatment can also soften marionette lines and improve chin projection for a more balanced profile.

Jawline Lift Injections

Some of the drag on the jawline comes from muscle. The platysma, a thin sheet of muscle in the neck, and the muscles that pull the corners of the mouth down can both exaggerate jowls, marionette lines and visible neck bands.

Precisely placed anti-wrinkle injections can relax these muscles, sometimes called a Nefertiti lift, allowing the jawline to look sharper and the corners of the mouth to sit higher. It is often combined with filler for a more complete result.

Skin Tightening & Collagen Stimulation

As collagen and elastin decline, lower face skin thins and loses its ability to spring back, which makes jowls more noticeable. Regenerative treatments help rebuild that support from within, firming and thickening the skin over a course of sessions.

Depending on your skin, Dr Kris may recommend collagen stimulators such as Sculptra or AesPlla, polynucleotides, Profhilo or microneedling, either on their own for early laxity or alongside filler and injections for longer-lasting jawline results.

Your Treatment Journey

What to expect, step by step

Knowing what happens before, during and after your jowls treatment helps you feel at ease and set realistic expectations.

01

Medical consultation

Dr Kris reviews your medical history, assesses your face at rest and in movement, and explains what is driving your jowls. You'll receive a clear, personalised plan and time to consider it.

02

Your treatment

Numbing cream is applied where needed, and fillers contain local anaesthetic for comfort. Injectable treatments usually take 30–60 minutes, and collagen-stimulating plans are spread over several sessions.

03

Aftercare & review

Mild swelling, tenderness or bruising can last a few days. Avoid exercise, alcohol, heat and pressure on the area for 24–48 hours. Your review appointment allows any fine-tuning.

Jowls Treatment Results

A Clearer Jawline, a Fresher Lower Face

Filler results are visible straight away and settle over two weeks, while collagen-stimulating treatments build gradually over two to three months. Results typically last 12 to 18 months or longer with maintenance.

Smoother jawline

A cleaner line from chin to ear.

Reduced jowling

Sagging along the jaw visibly softened.

Lifted mid-face

Cheek support restored to lift from above.

Softer marionette lines

A less downturned, tired expression.

Firmer skin

Improved thickness and elasticity over time.

What causes jowls?
Jowls are the soft, sagging pockets of tissue that form below the corners of the mouth and along the jawline. They develop through several changes that happen together with age. The fat pads of the cheeks shrink and move downwards, so the mid-face no longer supports the tissue below it. The ligaments that anchor the skin to the underlying bone loosen, and bone in the jaw and chin gradually recedes. At the same time, the skin produces less collagen and elastin, so it becomes thinner and less able to spring back, while muscles such as the platysma can pull the lower face downwards. Genetics, sun exposure, smoking and significant weight changes can all make jowls appear earlier. Because several layers are involved, the most natural results usually come from treating each contributing factor, which is why a medical assessment is the first step.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your Jowls Treatment Questions, Answered

Can jowls be treated without surgery?
Yes, for many people. Mild to moderate jowling often responds well to non-surgical treatment, combining dermal filler to restore support, anti-wrinkle injections to relax downward-pulling muscles and collagen-stimulating treatments to firm the skin. Where there is significant loose skin, a surgical procedure such as a facelift may give a stronger result, and Dr Kris will advise honestly on what to expect.
How long does jowls treatment last?
It depends on the treatment used. Jawline and cheek fillers typically last 12 to 18 months, anti-wrinkle injections around 3 to 4 months, and collagen-stimulating treatments such as Sculptra can last up to two years once a course is complete. Dr Kris will recommend a maintenance plan that keeps your results looking natural.
Does jowls treatment hurt?
Most patients find treatment very comfortable. Numbing cream can be applied beforehand, and most fillers contain a local anaesthetic that numbs the area as treatment progresses. You may feel some pressure or a brief sting during injections.
What are the side effects of jowls treatment?
Common side effects include swelling, redness, tenderness and bruising at the treatment site, which usually settle within a few days to a week. Rarer but serious complications, such as filler blocking a blood vessel, can occur, which is why choosing a medically qualified practitioner matters. Dr Kris explains all risks in full at your consultation and the clinic is fully prepared to manage complications.
Will filling my jowls make my face look heavier?
Not with a careful, doctor-led approach. Filling the jowl itself can add weight to the lower face, so Dr Kris usually restores support in the cheeks and the hollow in front of the jowl instead, then refines the jawline only as much as needed. If you're new to treatment, a conservative first session can be built on at review.
At what age do jowls start to appear?
Jowls commonly begin to show from the late thirties to the fifties, although genetics, weight changes, sun exposure and smoking can bring them on earlier. Treating early laxity with collagen-stimulating treatments can help slow its progression and keep the jawline defined for longer.
Who is not suitable for jowls treatment?
Injectable treatments are only offered to adults aged 18 and over. Treatment isn't suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, where there is active infection in the area, or for people with certain neuromuscular or autoimmune conditions or allergies to product ingredients. Some medications may also affect suitability, so your full medical history is reviewed before any treatment is offered.
