The Kriniko Difference

Medical Microneedling, Not a Beauty Roller

Where many settings offer cosmetic dermarolling, Dr Kris approaches microneedling as a medical procedure: understanding how controlled micro-injury releases growth factors, activates fibroblasts and remodels the dermis over the weeks that follow.

Scientific precision

Sterile, single-use needle cartridges and carefully calibrated depths deliver consistent collagen stimulation exactly where your skin needs it.

Personalised protocols

From V-Tech and NCTF to hyaluronic acid and mesotherapy microneedling, the technique and serums are matched to your skin and goals.

Combination synergy

Microneedling can be paired with polynucleotides, growth factors or chemical peels to enhance and accelerate results, an approach we call the facial concept of synergy.

Many patients notice a fresher glow within a week, while deeper structural improvement builds over the following months as new collagen matures.

Microneedling for Acne Scars & Pigmentation

Microneedling is one of the most widely used treatments for atrophic acne scarring, helping to soften rolling and boxcar scars by rebuilding collagen beneath them. It can also improve mature surgical scars and stretch marks.

For uneven tone and sun damage, microneedling can be combined with targeted brightening serums or a chemical peel. As no heat is used, it's a safer option for darker skin tones prone to pigmentation.

Infusion & Scalp Microneedling

Hyaluronic acid, NCTF and mesotherapy microneedling deliver hydrating and nourishing serums through the micro-channels, plumping the skin and restoring radiance with results that go beyond standard microneedling.

Scalp microneedling stimulates circulation and the scalp's repair response to encourage healthier, stronger hair growth, and pairs well with growth factors or polynucleotides for hair restoration.

Your Treatment Journey

What to expect, step by step

Understanding what happens before, during and after your microneedling treatment helps set realistic expectations.

01

Consultation & skin analysis

Dr Kris reviews your history, concerns and goals, and assesses your skin with digital imaging. You'll receive a bespoke plan covering technique, serums, number of sessions and expected timeline.

02

The microneedling treatment

After cleansing and a topical numbing cream, a medical-grade device creates controlled micro-channels while your chosen serum is applied. Treatment takes around 45–60 minutes.

03

Recovery & results

Expect redness like mild sunburn for 1–3 days. Most patients need 3–6 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart, with results continuing to improve for several months.

What does the clinical research show?
Microneedling, or percutaneous collagen induction, has been studied extensively in dermatology. Controlled micro-injury triggers the release of growth factors that stimulate fibroblasts to lay down new collagen and elastin, with studies showing increased dermal collagen and elastin in the months after a course of treatment. Clinical research supports its use for atrophic acne scars, skin texture and photoageing, and because it does not rely on heat, it carries a lower risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation than many ablative treatments, making it suitable across a wide range of skin tones.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your Microneedling Questions, Answered

How many microneedling sessions will I need?
Most patients benefit from 3 to 6 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Acne scarring and stretch marks usually need more sessions than general rejuvenation. Maintenance treatments once or twice a year help sustain your results.
Does microneedling hurt?
Most patients find it very comfortable. A topical numbing cream is applied beforehand, so you'll usually feel only light vibration or mild prickling, slightly more over bony areas.
What is the downtime and are there side effects?
Downtime is minimal. Expect redness similar to mild sunburn for 24 to 72 hours, with possible tightness or light flaking. Most people return to work the next day. You should avoid make-up for 24 hours and wear a high-factor SPF daily.
Is microneedling safe for darker skin tones?
Yes. Because microneedling does not use heat, it carries a lower risk of pigmentation changes than many lasers, making it a good option for all skin tones when performed by an experienced medical practitioner.
Can microneedling be combined with other treatments?
Yes. Microneedling works well alongside polynucleotides, growth factors, hyaluronic acid and chemical peels, as the micro-channels help active ingredients reach deeper layers of the skin. Dr Kris will advise on the best combination for your goals during consultation.
Who should not have microneedling?
Microneedling may not be suitable if you have an active skin infection, active inflammatory acne, a tendency to keloid scarring, are pregnant, or have recently taken isotretinoin. Dr Kris will review your medical history fully at consultation.
What's the difference between clinical microneedling and at-home dermarollers?
Home rollers use short needles that cannot be sterilised to clinical standards and can tear the skin. Medical microneedling uses sterile, single-use cartridges with vertical needle action and depths tailored to each area, giving safer and far more effective collagen stimulation.
