BSc (Hons) MBBS PgDip MSc RCPathME MRSB MIoL MIHSCM PVRA

Dr Kris brings more than 12 years of clinical experience and a medical understanding of skin health to every chemical peel at Kriniko Medical Aesthetics, so the peel, its strength and your skin preparation are chosen for you rather than taken from a one-size-fits-all menu.

  • A member of the International Association for Applied Corneotherapy, with a barrier-first approach that protects skin health while it renews.
  • A medical assessment of your skin type, history and any conditions such as acne, rosacea or melasma before a peel is chosen, reducing the risk of irritation or pigmentation changes.
  • Every patient has a face-to-face medical consultation with Dr Kris before treatment, and a doctor is present throughout your appointment.

The Kriniko Difference

Healthy Skin First, Then the Glow

A good peel does not need to leave you raw and peeling for a week. Dr Kris focuses on controlled, gradual resurfacing that respects your skin barrier, so you see real improvement with downtime that fits around your life.

Skin-first assessment

Your skin type, sensitivity, lifestyle and any history of pigmentation or cold sores are reviewed, so the peel you have is the one that suits your skin.

Courses, not quick fixes

Most concerns respond best to a series of peels spaced a few weeks apart, building results safely and steadily rather than pushing the skin too hard at once.

Complete skin strategy

Peels pair well with microneedling, polynucleotides or Profhilo, and feature in our Signature Skin Edit Packages for a fully rounded plan.

Your Treatment Journey

What to expect, step by step

Knowing what happens before, during and after your chemical peel helps you feel at ease and plan any downtime around your week.

01

Skin consultation

Dr Kris reviews your medical history, current skincare and medications, then assesses your skin to choose the right peel. Some patients are advised to prepare their skin for a few weeks first.

02

The peel treatment

Your skin is cleansed and prepped, then the peel is applied and carefully timed. A warm, tingling sensation is normal. Most appointments take 30–45 minutes.

03

Aftercare & review

Skin may feel tight or look pink, and some peels cause light flaking for a few days. Avoid heat, exercise, active skincare and makeup for 24–48 hours, and wear SPF 30+ daily.

Chemical Peel Results

Brighter, Smoother, Clearer Skin

Many patients notice fresher, brighter skin within days, with tone and texture continuing to improve over a course of peels, typically spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart.

Brighter complexion

Renewed radiance as dull surface cells are cleared.

More even tone

Pigmentation and marks look less pronounced.

Smoother texture

A softer, more refined skin surface.

Clearer pores

Less congestion and fewer breakouts.

Softer fine lines

Early lines look less noticeable.

How do chemical peels work?
Chemical peels use carefully formulated acids and active ingredients to loosen the bonds that hold dull, dead cells to the surface of the skin. As these cells are shed, fresher, smoother skin is revealed underneath, and the controlled exfoliation also encourages the skin to renew itself, supporting healthy cell turnover and, over a course of treatments, collagen production. Superficial peels work on the outermost layers for a brighter, more even finish with little or no downtime, while more active medical-grade peels such as the Obagi Blue Peel RADIANCE® give a more noticeable improvement in pigmentation, blemishes and texture. The type of peel, its strength and how long it stays on the skin are all tailored to your skin type and goals, and suitability is always confirmed at your medical consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your Chemical Peel Questions, Answered

How many chemical peels will I need?
Some patients notice a fresh glow after a single peel, but most concerns, such as pigmentation, congestion and uneven texture, respond best to a course of 3 to 6 peels spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart. Dr Kris will recommend a treatment plan and a maintenance schedule based on your skin and your goals.
Do chemical peels hurt?
Most people describe a warm, tingling or mildly stinging sensation for a few minutes while the peel is on the skin. It is usually very manageable and settles quickly once the peel is removed or neutralised. A cooling fan and soothing aftercare products help keep you comfortable throughout.
How much downtime is there after a chemical peel?
Most of our peels have little or no downtime. Skin may look pink and feel tight for a day or so, and some peels cause light flaking for 3 to 5 days. You can usually return to work straight away, although it is best to avoid makeup for 24 hours and to plan more active peels around important events.
What are the side effects of chemical peels?
Temporary redness, tightness, dryness, flaking and sensitivity are common and usually settle within a few days. Less commonly, a peel can trigger a cold sore flare, irritation or changes in pigmentation, which is why a medical skin assessment, careful peel selection and daily sun protection matter. Dr Kris explains all risks in full at your consultation.
Are chemical peels suitable for darker skin tones?
Many chemical peels can be used safely on darker skin tones, but the choice of peel, its strength and how the skin is prepared are important to reduce the risk of pigmentation changes. Dr Kris assesses your skin type carefully and will recommend the most suitable peel, or an alternative treatment if a peel is not the right option for you.
Which chemical peel is right for me?
It depends on your skin and what you would like to improve. The Glow Peel suits dull, tired skin; the Pure Peel targets congestion and breakouts; the Refresh Peel is a gentle, hydrating option with minimal downtime; and the Obagi Blue Peel RADIANCE® is a medical-grade peel for pigmentation, fine lines and texture. Dr Kris will recommend the best peel for you at your consultation.
Who is not suitable for chemical peels?
Chemical peels are only offered to adults aged 18 and over. Treatment is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over broken, sunburnt or infected skin, during an active cold sore, or for anyone who has recently taken isotretinoin (Roaccutane). Some prescription skincare and medications may also affect suitability, so your full medical history is reviewed before any treatment is offered.
